While we can't guarantee it, approximately 95% of our students successfully stand up and ride waves during their first lesson with us. Your success depends on ocean conditions, athletic ability, and how well you follow instruction. Private lessons have the highest first-time success rate.

Yes, basic swimming ability is required for safety. You should be comfortable in waist-to-chest-deep water and not panic if you briefly go underwater. If you're a nervous swimmer, we recommend starting with a private lesson where you'll have constant one-on-one support from your instructor.

Everything you need! We provide quality foam surfboards sized for your height and weight, rash guards for sun protection, and professional instruction for the full 90 minutes. Just show up in your swimsuit with a towel—we'll take care of the rest..

Absolutely! We love teaching families. For families with mixed ages and skill levels, we recommend booking semi-private or private lessons. Children ages 6-9 do best in private lessons, while ages 10+ can participate in semi-private or group formats.

Early morning lessons (7:30am) typically offer the best conditions—calm winds, glassy water, excellent visibility, and fewer crowds. This is our most popular time slot. Our 9:30am session is also excellent with slightly warmer temperatures.

Your safety is our top priority. We monitor ocean conditions closely and will contact you if we need to reschedule due to unsafe conditions. You'll never be charged for a cancelled lesson—we'll work with you to reschedule or provide a full refund.

We teach at two premier West Maui locations: Guardrails Beach (Milepost 8.7) offers gentle waves perfect for beginners, and Ukumehame Beach Park (Milepost 12) provides slightly larger waves for progressing students. Both are 10-15 minutes south of Lahaina with easy parking. Your instructor chooses the best location based on daily conditions.
